Confluence
The emotional appeal of water underpins my series Confluence. The title refers to the joining of rivers and is a metaphor for blending the two historic practices I use to create my images: Gyotaku and Cyanotype.
Gyotaku, a form of nature printing, uses the subjects as printing plates and creates a fossil-like appearance that emphasizes the importance of my subject’s recognition and challenges that threaten their survival. The wet cyanotype technique I use untethers and melds the subjects to a fantasy environment created for them to happily live and thrive.
